What other parents say about Holly House Nursery

"My two boys, now aged 6 and 3 and a half, have attended Holly House since 2006 when we moved to Leeds. Coming from a large nursery that was part of a chain, I was immediately impressed by Holly House’s intimate, family surroundings, and the personal care given by the friendly staff.  Holly House has another great draw in its large garden, and my children have spent many happy summers outside, feeding the chickens, planting seeds, and playing on the climbing frame.

For me, another major advantage was that because of the nursery’s small size, the children aren’t rigidly sectioned off in different rooms, as they tend to be in bigger nurseries. Before my elder son left for primary school, my boys frequently played together in the garden and elsewhere, allowing them to further their relationship while their parents were at work. I have also been pleased to have excellent male role models at nursery, in Haady and Steve, which is an unusual asset in the often all-female world of childcare.

Finally, I have particular reason to be thankful to Holly House, because I had unusually severe post-natal depression after the birth of my second child, ending up spending two months in a psychiatric mother and baby unit. In the months leading up to my hospitalization as I was finding it increasingly difficult to cope, the nursery’s staff members were extremely supportive, and later the nursery functioned as a loving space of security for my elder son while his mum was away receiving treatment, accompanied by his little brother. I will always be especially grateful to Holly House for helping our family through this difficult time, and really can’t recommend this nursery highly enough."

"My 3-year old son has attended Holly House since he was 8 months old and he loves it like a second home. What I feel makes Holly House special is the home-from-home vibe. They've successfully blended an informality and friendliness that seems to characterise their ethos, with the professionalism of a well qualified and experienced staff team that instils confidence and peace of mind.

The bright, homely rooms are well-equipped and areas are provided for different activities, such as messy play and painting. The outdoor space has been recently re-landscaped to provide a safe and spacious play area. There's plenty of space for running about and exploring, and even gardening with the development of a large vegetable plot. I look forward to my son learning about growing and nurturing plants and veg, as well as digging in the mud and finding wiggly worms to wonder at!

The thought and planning that goes into the educational and developmental programme is a strength of Holly House which is further strengthened by the expertise and experience of the staff team who deliver it. I feel however that above all it is the emotional development and wellbeing of my son that has been so well nurtured at Holly House, which is by far the most important thing at this tender age.

I am currently expecting my second child and I plan to have them attend Holly House when the time comes for me to return to work. I will have no anxiety about putting my baby in from 3 or 4 months old as I know that the care he or she will receive will be exemplary. I feel completely confident about becoming a mum for the second time with the fantastic support that Holly House provides me in caring for my children".

As soon as we visited Holly House we knew it was the nursery we wanted to use - everyone was so friendly & we liked their outlook & philosophy... the garden is great too. Our 1 year old daughter seems to love it & often comes home with cards & cakes she has made (plus mixtures of flour, jelly & paint on her.... which can only be a good sign!)
